PAR LAB | Dr. Elvira Prusaczyk

Hi there! I’m Dr. Elvira Prusaczyk, an Assistant Professor in the Department of Psychology at St. Francis Xavier University (StFX).

StFX is situated in Mi’kma’ki, the ancestral and unceded territory of the Mi’kmaq People. I recognize that long-standing injustices continue to impact the Mi’kmaq People today. I am committed to ongoing learning and seeking ways to support reconciliation.

At StFX, I teach Social Psychology (a second year undergraduate course), Psychology of Gender (a third year undergraduate course), and the Psychology of Prejudice and Discrimination (a fourth year undergraduate seminar-style course). I am currently updating an open access social psychology textbook with indigenous ways of knowing and teaching.

As Director of the Prejudice Awareness and Reduction (PAR) Lab at StFX, my research examines how and why intergroup biases persist and what we can do to reduce them. Much of my work focuses on stereotypes, prejudice, and discrimination toward marginalized groups, particularly women, racialized people, and sexual and gender-diverse people.
